Using Emeril’s cajun jambalaya recipe as a guide , I made an improv dish using 1 cup of basmati rice, 1 cup of chopped canned tomatoes, 1 clove of garlic, 3 sweet Sicilian sausages (sliced into 1/2 inch coins and panfried separately, then incorporated into the rice mixture) , 2 chopped red onions, a chopped red pepper, some chicken broth, some dried thyme, dried oregano, sweet Hungarian paprika, cayenne, black pepper.
